Here’s a safe, damage-free way to remove press-on nails, whether you used sticky tabs or nail glue

Before You Start

Never force or pry them off — that’s what causes peeling and nail damage.

You’ll need:

• Warm water

• Cuticle pusher or orangewood stick

• Cuticle oil / nail oil

• (Optional) mild soap

• (If glued) acetone + cotton

✨ Method 1: Sticky Tabs (Easiest & Safest)

Best if you used adhesive tabs

  1. Soak in warm water

• 10–15 minutes

• Add a little soap or oil for faster loosening

  • Gently lift from the sides

• Use a wooden stick, never metal

• Work slowly around the edges

  • Slide off, don’t pull

• If it resists, soak a few more minutes

  • Remove residue

• Rub remaining tabs off with oil

• Buff lightly if needed

Method 2: Nail Glue Removal

If you used nail glue

Option A: Oil + Warm Water (Less harsh)

  1. Soak nails in warm, soapy water for 15–20 minutes
  2. Apply cuticle oil generously
  3. Gently wiggle from the side until the nail loosens

Option B: Acetone (Faster, Stronger Glue)

  1. Lightly file the top of the press-on
  2. Soak cotton in acetone and place on nail
  3. Wrap with foil for 10–15 minutes
  4. Gently push off softened glue
  5. Re-soak if needed (don’t scrape)

Aftercare (Very Important)

• Wash hands

• Apply cuticle oil or nail serum

• Use hand cream

• Let natural nails rest before reapplying press-ons
